What exactly is all this conflict of interest charges against a candidate for school board all about? Someone please explain to me what this is? Is it true?

I also was told by a neighbor that at the school budget public hearing there will be an attempt to get the budget committee to add $250,000 to the school budget in order to bring back 4 or 5 school teachers? Is this true?? Someone please explain.

You must not have read the posts regarding Shawn Coe, on the ballot for school board. His wife is the Dean of Humanities at BHS. Therefore, employed and under contract.

I’m sure we will be going back and forth on the $$ for the budget. Be prepared for a long night (or two). No matter what side of the issue you are on, make sure you come out to both the public hearing and school portion of town hall meeting. It will be ‘educational’ to say the least.

Sounds like a conflict of interest to me…………………..

    This site is dead!!

With all that is going on behind the scenes, where is everyone?

The public hearing was a joke. All the special interest parents who moved here for the schools showed up (all 20 of them) and whined about how there was not enough teachers to babysit there kids in school.

Since when is it the total responsibility of the school system to teach their kids?

Isn’t there some responsibilty to be born by these irresponsible parents who think we all have to pay to educate and babysit their kids??

tax tired in Bow – your ignorance and arrogance is unbelievable. To personally attack parents who believe in the power of education and have a different opinion then your own proves to the “special interest” parents what a lack of education will result in and only builds our resolve to continue fighting for our children. I shutter to think that you have children who are currently in the school system and I truly feel for them. If you have children who already went through the Bow school system, did you children not benefit from Bow’s excellent schools and did the taxpayers in Bow not help to contribute to your child’s education? If the total responsibility of the school system is NOT to teach our children, please enlighten us on what the school system is suppose to do. Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion and there are many intelligent and reasonable people on both sides of this issue, however, you are an embarrassment to both sides.

FMKS – For My Kids Sake – I think your arrogance and self centered mentality and the arrogance and selfishness of all who claim to move to Bow for the school system and expect that all the taxpayers of Bow are going to fund what amounts to a private school for your sole benefit with all the frills. I do not buy that for a minute.

Someone needs to determine the meaning of education that the taxpayers are responsible for and what the parents are responsible for before we all go broke.

If you do not like it, move back to wherever you came from or to Bedford.

tax tired – Keep commenting because every time you do you dig the hole deeper and continue to prove my point about what a lack of education will do to a child. You better do your homework if you think what we have in Bow amounts to a private school education. One last thing and much to your dismay, I’m not going anywhere!

  8. Teacher says:

Money spent does not always = education dispensed. I think that is what is at issue especially when there is so much remediation needed for college kids who can’t do fractions and such.

The question becomes, what ARE they learning in schools and why DOES it cost all that money? If you dig deeper you will find it is not the teachers nor is it being spent on paper and pencils, that is, if those items are still allowed anymore.
