BCC Discredits Bow School Board Scare Tactic
Note from BCC: The Bow School District had a $1.25 Million Dollar surplus last year and yet, the Bow School Board is crying poverty and making threats just to get people to vote for their bloated budget. This must stop! Fact, Pansy Bloomfield voted for the very Bow Budget Committee Budget that she criticized in her letter to the editor in published in the Concord Monitor. This fact is confirmed by Bow Budget Committee Member Rick Hiland and the Bow Budget Committee’s minutes.
Here is a recent Letter to the Editor:
Since Bow changed its annual town meeting date so that it no longer coincides with the annual school district meeting, we have had some difficulty making sure taxpayers are reminded of both meeting dates and issues to be discussed at the respective meetings.
On Feb. 26, the Bow Budget Committee finalized its vote to recommend a reduction of $152,863 to the school board’s proposed budget. If the budget is approved with this reduction, the school board will be considering reductions to programs that are supportive of education but are not mandated core programs. Areas of consideration include: school-to-career; gifted and talented; athletic training; and up to 20 percent of co-curricular activities and sports.
The proposed budgets and accompanying materials for the annual meeting are available at bownet.org and are available in hard copy at the municipal offices, the Bow Community Building, the Baker Free Library and the SAU office.
Bow residents, please come to the annual school district meeting on March 14 at 7 p.m. at Bow High School to vote your conscience. Your input and vote are extremely valuable.
PANSY BLOOMFIELD
